update doowhop

Hey bloggerissimo! This blogger has a review of Welsh poet Peter Finch's book The Welsh Poems in the latest Chicago Review: The British Poetry Issue. But an even better reason to get the issue is the pull-out pin-up charting styles of British poetry from 1945-2000, and the loads of related essays inside. And features of British poets writing political lyrics. If you've wanted to become acquainted with contemporary British poetry, this latest issue of CR is a must-have.

And Bloggerissimo, be sure to get the upcoming double-issue of Chelsea. This blogger's amour has a story coming out in it.

Here, life's been mostly babyiferous, babylorious, babytastic! The wee flower dotb keep a mom busy and busy smiling and I'm pretty taken with the mom gig. Yes, dirty diapers, 24/7 need, and spit-up botched everything take their toll. But what an amazing fact her face, her inquiring, her fingers in her mouth.

That said, I am getting some versifying done. Writing new poems, reading, and working up the final PR bits for Dog Girl. Most recently, I've reread Adrienne Rich's The Fact of a Doorframe and am again struck by how her work has become ever more direct across her career. I feel a similar pull toward clarity, despite my interest in difficulty and mystery. Stafford's claim that we ought to bring as much light to the matter of living and communicating as possible, as "the darkness around us is deep," feels truer for me as I grow older and the depths wash over me from time to time.

Anywho, I've just finished the page description of Dog Girl and the author statement and turned all over to the press. Was a challenge and fun. For any writer, it's probably helpful to look back and consider and then articulate what you're doing and how and why you're changing across projects.

Hey, how come blogger won't allow me to link to youtube?
